Dreaming of painting ~ or I remember being an artist

I don't think I've ever told you, but before I made jewelry I was a fledgling artist. For years I read and faithfully practiced what I was learning in art books. Watercolors and pastels were my mediums of choice, and if I may say so, I became rather good too. I felt like I truly became an artist  when my watercolors miniatures were accepted to be on display in a  gallery in Wisconsin. One of the gallery owners told me my paintings were like tiny jewels! To this day, her gracious words are still an encouragement to me. A few years later life's problems got in the way & I reluctantly stopped painting. When I moved to Vermont to marry, our first home was so small that painting was out of the question, so i took up jewelry making instead.

Now over 15 years later, I find that painting is calling me back. I think about it more with each passing day, & the jewelry is no longer consuming me. Instead i want to paint, expressing feelings, dreams and visions on canvas!

Well my journey home to art is beginning. Beloved hubby found the box where I carefully stored my pastels, and the new watercolors arrived today! I don't know if I'll be able to regain skill I once had, but hopefully with daily practice, I'll be expressing feelings, dreams & visions through my art.

Hi Diane,

I am so excited that painting has called to you again.

I used to create jewelry (almost 20 years ago). I remember sitting at the kitchen table with my bead buckets and my tools and just having a blast creating works of art.

I started painting with watercolor about 6 years ago and then "graduated" to acrylic. I was scared of acrylic, but it is working for me so far.

I look forward to following your journey into painting. I can't wait to see what paintings are lurking inside of you just waiting to escape.

Blessings
Honey

How exciting to watch your journey, Diane, as you revisit the joy you had while painting years ago!
I love your beautiful colors and expressive brush and knife strokes in the paintings and can't wait to see what you'll create next.
All the best- Mary
